ripperdoc's clinic

A schizofrenic braindump, a stream of cyberpunk, post-cyberpunk, neopunk, futurism and sci-fi items, inspiration for my writing and game design. Usually managed by my trusty auto-posting AI residing in a possum-brain in my kitchen sink.

Go ahead and inject into my brainfeed via Twitter or Tumblr submit. Aslo, go ahead and challenge my AI with a question (warning, it bites).

Transhumanism = overhumanism?

Charles Stross, SF-writer, gives us a long, good and almost essay-like blogpost regarding transumanism. There are signs that transhumanism (ideology of modifying humans to something better) would be used by nasty political ideologies.

Well, nothing new here, to be honest. Transhumanism in its purest form is still a dangerous (but inevitable) path to go. The rich world will get the “upgrades” first, so yes, in a sense there will be humans and superhumans sharing the earth. And of course those who have more still won’t be very interested in sharing to those who have less. Why would it change?

No matter you agree with Mr Stross or not, the blogpost contains lots of interesting small predicitions about how this century will play out. Check it out!
